My name is Graham, I’m the co-owner of Horizon Site Pro, and I just want to tell you quickly about my story in contracting and why I ended up building Horizon Site Pro.

Well over a decade ago, after dabbling in small renovation projects, I jumped into the trades and started training to become an electrician. I worked day-in and day-out alongside other small contractors who were trying to build their businesses.

Before long I decided to strike out on my own full time and started my own renovation business. Bathrooms, kitchens, basements, decks, windows and doors, etc. I did everything that came my way, and did virtually all of the work with my own two hands. I even managed to fulfill a lifelong dream of gutting and flipping a couple homes during this period.

After a number of years of the renovation business, I transitioned my company exclusively into new home construction. This brought new opportunities, but also the biggest challenges of my career.

During my years of running my small renovation business on my own, I always wished I had software to help me out, but didn’t know of anything that existed. So I plodded through using paper for everything.

After transitioning into home building and the company continued to grow, I had the opportunity to start trying out some of the software offerings currently on the market. Some of the ones I first tried helped a lot over my old paper ways, but they were still poorly designed in my opinion and more money than I wanted to spend.

As we continued to grow, I was finally forced to take the plunge and purchased software that was well built and solved all of our problems. It instantly made my life so much easier. Our projects ran more on schedule, and we started putting more money in our pockets. But the software was horrendously expensive.

I knew there had to be a better way. I knew that everything I struggled with as a small contractor, many others were struggling with too. If only there could be a solution that made running a construction company easy, and it was affordable so that even the smallest contractor could afford it.

Thus started the journey of developing our own software, and born of those thousands of hours of work and experimentation is Horizon Site Pro.
